Freshwater Pools
An alternative to chlorine and salt water swimming pools
A freshwater swimming pool is an alternate option to the more traditional chlorine or salt water pool sanitisation systems available in the marketplace. All swimming pools require some level of chlorine to ensure your family is safe; however the residual amount of chlorine that is required varies based on the sanitation system you choose.
To achieve a more natural and soft feel in the swimming pool water, Albatross Pools recommends an Ionic Purifier. An Ionic Purifier system, commonly referred to as an Ioniser, is a swimming pool sanitisation system that releases small amounts of copper and silver (a highly effective disinfectant) in the pool water via a process of electrolysis.
- Silver ions attack bacteria present in the swimming pool water
- Copper ions act to inhibit algae growth in the swimming pool water – it is recommended that a copper-based algaecide be added to both chlorine pools and salt water pools over the winter period to prevent algae growth
The silver and copper present in the pool water act as a preventative system and the pool water balance typically remains quite neutral, this reducing the amount of maintenance chemicals required year round. Further more, unlike other forms of swimming pool sanitation an Ionic Purifier is not affected by the swimmer bather loads or water temperature, the result is soft and natural feeling pool water, reducing the likelihood of skin and eye irritations.
