Teesdale Pool Project
Driveway Pool Design
Set at the front of the acreage property in Teesdale, the rectangular pool design is positioned in the centre of the u-shaped driveway spanning 7.0m in length and 3.0m in width.
To capture the views at the rear of the property, the pool was originally to be positioned off the back of the residence, elevated 1.2m above natural ground to meet the heights of the existing verandah. Unfortunately major costly modifications were to be required to extend the verandah to surround the proposed pool and this location was no longer a viable option.
Set at the higher side of the u-shaped driveway, the pool is partially elevated approximately 0.7m above natural ground. This partial elevation ensures ground water challenges and main-road water runoff issues are overcome with ease.
Lush established trees border the property from the main road; however, privacy and exposure to the elements required substantial screening around the back of the pool zone. To link with the facade of the existing residence, a two tonal Colorbond screen features around both the pool and future putting green alongside the pool zone.
To work with the tones of native landscape, particularly the whites and greys of the impressive Ghost Gums, a beige, white and grey colour palette features throughout the pool zone. Although positioned in an unconventional location, the entire space feels at one with both the residence and its surroundings.
What was once yet another patch of grass to mow and more importantly; an unutilised area on the property, now stands a simple yet stylish paired back pool zone...some might say positioning the pool in the middle of the driveway was actually a very creative use of space! The client sure does and even feels it was where the pool was meant to be all along.
