Research Pool Renovation Project
Pool restored to former glory
Installed in the mid 1970s for the original owners of the family home in Research, this 11.0m x 5.5m rectangular Albatross pool recently received its very first renovation restoring the swimming pool to its former glory.
True to pool design principles of the 1970s, this pool was originally a classic rectangular diving pool complete with a very deep end, a diving board and a pool ladder. Unfortunately, as diving board regulations have changed some forty years down the track, the diving board was removed during the pool renovation - much to the disappointment of the current owners' children.
Remaining structurally sound, the pool renovation involved the alteration of the pool depth profile, the addition of a full width comfort seat in the shallows, the installation of a new Aqualux pvc membrane pool interior and a complete equipment upgrade including alternate pool heating. The tile-like Mosaic Aqualux pool interior featured delivers an added level of sophistication to this project without the ongoing maintenance of standard pool tiles.
The poolscape also received a complete overhaul including new pool tiles, new glass pool fencing, an outdoor kitchen, a sauna and a discretely hidden underground stainless steel pool blanket pit...everything a family could possibly need for the next forty years worth of family fun and outdoor entertaining!
This Albatross pool along with the forty plus year old display pools in the Warrandyte Swimming Pool Display Centre are a testament to the strength and durability of the pre-engineered swimming pool concept.
